In his early childhood days, a young boy, David Copperfield, had been living with his mother and their servant Peggotty. His mother marries a very cruel man, Mr. Murdstone and David is being sent away to Salem House where it is not very safe at all. It was a run-down London boarding school where Mr. Creakle beats up young boys. David’s mother soon gives birth to a son by Mr. Murdstone. Unfortunately she dies after a while. David was dragged out of school and was forced to work at a wine warehouse with Mr. Murdstone. David runs from work and lives with his great-aunt, Miss Betsey Trotwood, where he lives a happier life. She soon adopts him and sends him off to Dr. Strong’s school in Canterbury. When David was done with his education at Dr. Strong’s school, he goes to work at the law firm of Mr. Spenlow and Jorkins. He meets his significant other, Dora Spenlow and falls in love with with her. After that, they were engaged to each other.They had their very first child but Dora becomes ill and dies after giving birth, along with the child. It was a sad life for David but he tries to move on. He had traveled abroad for several years and realizes he truly loves this other woman, Agnes Wickfield. David becomes a famous writer and marries Agnes. They live happily ever after along with their friends.

Der Antichrist. Fluch auf das Christenthum ist eines der Spätwerke Friedrich Nietzsches. Er schrieb die polemische Abrechnung mit dem Christentum im Spätsommer und Herbst 1888. Da Nietzsche sich bis zu seinem geistigen Zusammenbruch wenige Monate später nicht konkret um eine Publikation bemüht hatte, wurde das Manuskript zunächst zurückgehalten und erst 1894 vom Nietzsche-Archiv herausgegeben, allerdings mit mehreren Mängeln. Streitigkeiten um eine korrekte Edition des Werks zogen sich — wie bei allen Spätwerken Nietzsches — bis in die zweite Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts hin.Wie in mehreren seiner letzten Werke philosophiert Nietzsche auch hier „mit dem Hammer“ und will alte Werte „umwerten“. Unter Rückgriff auf einige seiner früheren Schriften bündelt er seine Kritik am Christentum, der er eine bisher nicht gekannte Schärfe gibt. In oft prägnanten Sätzen kritisiert er das Christentum der Priester, das im Wesentlichen von Paulus begründet worden sei und das unter anderem das Erbe der griechischen und römischen Antike vernichtet habe. Des Weiteren gibt er eine originelle psychologische Deutung von Jesus. Er spricht sich gegen die Mitleidsethik aus, attackiert die christliche Theologie und die aus seiner Sicht davon abhängige (deutsche) Philosophie sowie den jüdisch-christlichen Gottesbegriff, und stellt dem Christentum andere Religionen wie Buddhismus, Islam oder Brahmanismus als in unterschiedlicher Hinsicht überlegen gegenüber.Das Werk ist von zentraler Bedeutung in Nietzsches später Philosophie.

»Der Condor« ist Adalbert Stifters erste veröffentlichte Erzählung (1840). Ein junger Maler blickt in den nächtlichen Himmel über der Stadt. Dort steigt in der Morgenfrühe der »Condor« auf, ein Fesselballon; in seiner Gondel Cornelia, die mit diesem Abenteuer nicht nur die vertraute Erde hinter sich lässt, sondern auch die ihr zugewiesene Stellung als Frau. In schwindelnder Höhe verändert sich die scheinbar sichere Wahrnehmung der vertrauten Natur und wird bedrohlich. Cornelia erkrankt schwer. Wieder genesen ruft sie den jungen Künstler zu sich, um sich im Malen unterrichten zu lassen. In einem Augenblick erkennen beide ihre Liebe zueinander und trennen sich dennoch im nächsten. Während der Mann durch ferne Erdteile reisend seine künstlerische Vollendung findet, bleibt Cornelia, als sie seinen meisterlichen Bildern in einer Ausstellung begegnet, nur die Trauer über die verlorene Liebe.
