Czytając "Dekoratora" – kolejną kryminalną powieść Akunina, ktora wpadła mi w łapki, cały czas zadawałem sobie jedno pytanie. Czyżby prawdą byłoby twierdzenie, że, jak mówią niektórzy, w literaturze, tak jak w muzyce, było już wszystko i od jakiegoś czasu autorzy eksploatują znane wzorce, zestawiając je jedynie po swojemu (vide "czarne" wersje znanych piosenek)?"Dekorator" to nic innego, jak dopisanie nowego rozdziału do znanej na całym świecie historii mordercy z White Chappel, czyli Kuby Rozpruwacza. Akunin napisał sprawną opowiastkę, flancując Jacka Rippera na rosyjską ziemię, rozpruwając kilka brzuchów i popisując się przenikliwością swego prywatnego Sherlocka, czyli carskiego urzędnika Erasta Fandorina. Dobre to, łatwe i przyjemne, ale nic poza tym. Moim zdaniem, tylko dla miłośników gatunku.
