Обе конкурирующие машины успешно прошли испытания и полностью соответствовали техническим требованиям флота. Их летные характеристики были практически одинаковыми и решающим фактором, повлиявшим на выбор военных моряков, стала цена – Консолидейтед запросила за свой гидросамолет 90000$, а Дуглас 110000$ и проиграла конкурс.
